| Hi Scott, I have quite a lot of data for 300+gr loads in the 45 Colt: Heavy Bullets in the 45 Colt
My heavy 45 Colt loads |

My best load to this point with a 310 grain WNFP is 22.0 grains 296 set of by winchester large pistol primers. I was getting 1250fps out of my 5.5" bisley. I could push it faster, but I as deer hunting is the reason I load; I have yet to see a deer that I needed more than that much power to drop. |

| I resize with a 45 ACP size die too, and Winchester LP primers. My 45 Colt die just didn't bring the brass down enough to hold the bullets under recoil, no matter how much crimp was applied. |

| Ok...but why would you want to use 300gr bullets for light loads? They're going to shoot VERY high, likely higher than you can adjust the sights to compensate for.
In case you still want to try them, 7.0 gr of Unique should get you in the 700 fps range. Those are very low pressure loads, if you have other data using jacketed bullets I'd use it with the cast bullets you already have. |

How fast do you suggest I push them? 1000-1100 somewhere in there? So I can use jacketed data for cast bullets, just not the other way around? Thanks, Scott |

I loaded up lots of powders and bullets, but the 300 gr cast bullet with 6 gr Unique made groups so good he hung the targets on his wall. |
